Differences Between Screen STN, CSTN, TFT, TFD, UFB, and OLED

Mobile technology development / mobile phone is undoubtedly, one of which is the field of the screen. Here we will discuss about the different types of screens used in mobile phones from Monochrome (1 color, Black), Passive-matrix (STN, CSTN), Active-matrix (TFT, TFD), UFB Samsung, and OLED.

For those who are lazy to read the explanation, better straight to the point aja deh

* Monochrome

LCD screen (Liquid Crystal Displays) of this type we often encounter dikalkulator, digital watches, and also the phone (once). Liquid crystal can be manipulated by electric current, so they change the shape. How it works to blacken diponsel monochrome pixel is to block the light going out. One of the advantages of mono is that power consumption is lower than the others.

And after so many years, mobile phone screens increasingly wide, color, and detail. So that monochrome screen is now considered obsolete. But still there is a flip phone screen externalnya Monochome kok. (What did you think when see some carry mobile phones in black and white screen?? .. If it's cave-fina fine aja;))

* Passive-Matrix Color Display

Most mobile phone color screen initially using passive-matrix technology is. This technology uses a wire system of vertical and horizontal to provide power / explaining a pixel. This display type is more expensive than TFT (discussed later). But it has responded to weaknesses rather slow, best quality of display less than optimal and less bright when compared with the type of active-matrix screen.

That use passive-matrix technology, among others:
STN - Super Twisted Nematic
CSTN - Color Super Twisted Nematic

* Active Matrix Color Display

Active matrix TFT use of technology (thin film transistor) which is generally used for notebooks. Put transistor TFT display screen pixel ditiap capable switched on and off individually, so that the display produces sharper images, brighter, and a very fast response. But the weakness mempunyain TFT screen that is more expensive and consume more battery power.

Other display types that include active-matrix is a TFD (thin film diode), the same as placing the diode TFT ditiap pixel screen. TFD technology combines the speed of image quality and a very good response from the TFT, with low power consumption and low cost of STN.

* UFB Samsung

UFB (Ultra Fine & Bright), an LCD technology that was created and introduced by Samsung in 2002. Can operate only with 3mW which consume much less power than TFT. This is certainly going to extend battery life. Mobile is using the type UFB screen will have a thinner size. (Cool yes.)

* OLED Display

OLED (Organic Light-emitting diode) is also known as LEP (Light-emitting Polymer) and the OEL (Organic Electro-Luminescence). Is a new generation display technology that consists of dots of organic polymer that emit light when charged with electricity. When compared with LCD, OLED display has the advantage of thinner, lighter, brighter, faster, cheaper, and consume slightly more power (due to not need the back light). The only weakness of this screen is difficult to see if you are under the light source like the sun.
